Wesley's first bath

Wesley got his first bath on Feb 19th. Lets just say he wasn't a fan and still isn't. Wesley hates to be naked, have his diaper changed or get a bath. He doesn't like for you to bother with him. But Muvie was over and he got his first bath by her. It was tradition in my family to have your mom's mother give them their first bath. Me and Kristin have pics of Muv giving ours and now I have pictures of the boys getting it by their Muvie.

22 months and new things with Nate

OK seriously I only get to do this 2 more months? Where has the time gone? He has grown up to be such a handsome dude!

1. Spitting is few and far between! Thank goodness! Now we just have melt downs. Hello 2's!
2. Sticker Sticker craziness! So we bought this sticker book where you can place stickers on images. Well we give him the sticker and turn it to the page where it goes and he places it on the image. I can't believe it!
3. Kisses kisses kisses...that all he loves to give now
4. School is getting better. He missed 2 weeks in Feb due to Wesley being born and inclement weather day. We had to start all over again but it is getting better. He made his mommy a cookbook for Valentines day with his picture on it.
5. He knows now how to climb up the slide and go down by himself...he is so proud
6. New words...baby desdeee (baby Wesley), Hot Dog (mickey), Daisy, Please and many many more
7. He is great with Wesley but he won't let him wear socks, have blankets on him nor have hats on his head.
8. Very into bubbles outside and chases them around the yard and steps on them
9. Gets into his highchair by himself
10. We bought him a booster seat and he LOVES IT. He gets up there all the time and plays with playdoh
11. Bath time has become a big splashing mess! He loves the water!
12. He can take tops off water bottles so you have to be careful where you leave them because he will dump the water out and play in it.
13. He stands at the door while we take at Gabbie and tells her to "go potty". Then he will shut the door when she comes in.
14. He tries to put on his own pants by putting himself in the down dog position and tries to get them on but not very successful
15. He is into doing buckles on all of Wesley's stuff, swing, car seat... He even tries to help me when we put him in his own car seat
16. He says excuse me and he tells us "excuse me dad or excuse me mama" when we do something
17. He now ask to go outside by giving us his shoes and his jacket.
18. He now holds my hand when we are in the parking lot or going somewhere. Before I would have to hold his wrist.
19. Takes any keys and takes it to his crazy coupe and tries to start the engine
20. Still is Mickey obsessed and if I tell him no Mickey he cries and says "Mickey key key No"
21. He spins around in circles now and we think he learned it from music class at school
22. Gives Wesley a kiss every night before he goes to bed. He loves him so much!

My sweet sweet Nate

Nate is changing so much and such a sweet brother. He has totally surprised me on how well he is doing. He constantly wants to give him kisses and hugs and wants to hold "babe desdee". So the other night he was giving us his nightly kisses to me and Muvie. Then all of the sudden he went over to the pack n play and on his tip toes he says "mmmmmmmm phaw". Gives his brother Wesley a nite nite kiss. Tears filled up in my eyes and he truly melted my heart. Love that boy!

We have had snow here, 4 inches. The good stuff where you can build a snow man. He has had the best time with his daddy going outside to play.

Wesley and the Bili bed

This bed is such a pain to put up with. I was up constantly checking on him because as you can see the cover gets so close to his face. I was always scared that he would cover his face and he couldn't breath. he would constantly wiggle his way out of it. He is my Wiggle Worm. Friday we got a call from the dr that his levels went down to 10.3. We had to keep him on the bed the rest of the day and the weekend we could give him a break. Monday morning we go back in and check to see if the levels went down anymore or back up. Then we see what we do from there. I am still having to supplement. This is a struggle because now I am fighting with him to take my breast. The bottle is instant milk and the breast take a little time. So I am pumping more and putting in the bottle which is a pain. Trying to keep up with everything since he eats every 2 hours.

His weight is finally going back up. I was getting worried for a while because the hospital told me don't let him get down 7% and he was down 10%. So as a mom I know how important it is to keep that weight going up to keep him healthy. It is harder with the jaundice but we went up another ounce on Friday. I am praying that Monday he goes up a whole lot more so I stop worrying about it. Friday he weighed 5.6 oz.

Welcome Wesley Thomas Hanna

Wow what an amazing ride these past couple of weeks have been. Thanks for all your prayers and thoughts these weeks. Here is Wesley Thomas birth story.

On Thursday 2-4, I was officially off bedrest. I had to take Nate to the Dr for those bumps near his eye (bites) and then went to Walmart to get some groceries and other items. My mom was with me to help lift Nate since it was my first day walking around. We had to leave Walmart early because I wasn't feeling right. Got home and laid down for a while and felt better. Then did the normal things to end the day. Went to bed to watch Gray's and Private Practice. While I was dosing off watching PP, all of the sudden I felt a POP. My heart started racing. I had no idea what just happened. I kept feeling down there and nothing was wet. I was like "OMG what just broke". I got up to the bathroom and right when I pulled my pants down the "gush" came out. Called for Brad and he ran upstairs and I said look this won't stop...I think it is my water. It was clear but bloody. So since my mom was still there we got her out of bed and also called the dr. My sister was called to head over. Then I started having small contractions. I was like OMG this is it! We are finally able to meet Tater tot! So we headed to Forsyth Northside. I was so excited that I didn't have to drive to ATL Northside. While I was checking in my water continued to break and went through the pad. Thank goodness I was wearing black :). Well they checked me in and the contractions started to get worse. They said they were going to try to wait until the morning to have the baby by spacing out my contractions since I ate at 7:00 and it was now 11:30. They wanted to try to get my stomach as empty as possible. But they first wanted to check me to see where I was at and if I was in active labor. Well I was at 2cm and the contractions were STRONG. They kept trying to give me my IV but they were so close together that we had to keep starting over. They gave me the contraction shot and some pain meds. The contraction shot didn't space them out very long. She came back in and said the Dr is going to take you tonight. THANK GOD! I didn't know how in the world I would last all night with those! So then the epidural man came in. Funny because it was the same one that gave it to me when I had Nate at Northside ATL. By this time it is 2/5 and I was so excited because this meant that Traci's son Ben and my tater tot will now share a birthday! So very cool!

But here is something I didn't know or nobody explained about Forsyth. When you call your Dr office to tell them your heading they might not have rounds there that night. They have someone at the ATL Northside every night but the Dr's at Forsyth hospital decided to take a different route. Each practice that delivers there has a schedule of who's practice will deliver that night. So it was a dr from a totally different practice that did my surgery. Thank goodness I liked her! Really didn't have a choice.

So they wheeled me into surgery. It was so quite unlike ATL Northside. I was on the surgery table very long time. They said I had a lot of scare tissue. During the surgery I got really nauseous. My BP dropped really low. They had to give me a shot of something to raise it. Then my uterus was softening during surgery. But finally they got him out and he was crying. Born at 1:11am. It took them a while to clean me up and get my BP under control. They got me into recovery so I could join Wesley Thomas. Do you believe I was the only one in there!?!?! It was so nice and I didn't feel like a number. He weighed 5 lbs 13 oz and was 19.25 inches tall. blonde hair. He even latched on with no problem. So perfect! We got up to our room by 3:00am.

The stay at this hospital was so incredible. Staff was great and they take very good care of you. Sunday there are only 7 babies here. Over the top care! The food is not bad either.

Wesley has jaundice. He did pass his car seat test. They have to test babies that are early and under a certain weight. Saturday was a really rough day for me. We couldn't get my pain under control. One point in time I was on 2 pills of morphine and something else and it didn't phase it. I was bleeding a lot more this time around too. But we finally found the combination that worked and it also helped with the bleeding. Sunday I felt so much better and got my IV taken out and could take a full shower. Monday we started off the day off to a bang. Wesley jaundice numbers went up to 95% and he had to be put on a lighted bed. This meant we could not go home. His weight was also down to 10% so we had to supplement with formula after I did breast feeding. They also started taking me off on Morphine and it made me very nauseous. At the end of the day I started having stomach issues. That stuff is deadly! Tuesday woke up to feeling much better and got great news that Wesley is now off the lighted bed. He also gained an ounce over night! Then we got the green light that we can go home! YEAH!

Wesley Thomas is such a joy! He is a lot different than his brother Nate. He hates to be bothered and he will let us know. Nate loves having a little brother. All he kept doing today was giving him lots of hugs and kisses. Nate is also very interested in his feet and constantly taking his hat off.

21 months and new things with Nate

He has really blossomed this month with his vocabulary. He is understanding things more and getting more vocal.

1. Spitting has almost disappear but we have started (since we been to school) hitting. Nipping that one in the bud PDQ
2. He stared MMO for the first time. The first day was hard for the both of us. But he has been 3 times this month and the teacher stated he is getting better each time.
3. With his barn he can do the different animal sounds and name the animals except for horse. Pig, cow, sheep, chicken
4. Pointing more. He has never been a big pointer but now he will show us things in a book that we are reading to him.
5. Sticks his tongue out when he concentrates
6. When he is watching his Mickey Mouse video there are certain parts that he cracks up at every single time.
7. Mickey obsession has gotten worse. He wants to watch it 24 hours a day. MLK day I had to work and we did our normal routine but not the Disney channel. Mickey was not on at 8:30. How the heck do I explain that one to him? Total meltdown.
8. Wears his AU hat just like his daddy. He wanted to take it with him when I did errands the other day and he wore it out all day. God help him.
9. When Daddy pushes him in his crazy coupe he does vrooom sounds with him, does the wheel and laughs.
10. Introduced baby dolls to him since he is getting a baby brother soon. He will feed it a bottle and try to put a diaper on it.
11. Takes his bib off and says "all done" even after the first bite. Little stinker.
12. He is now learning to eat with a spoon. The issue is he turns it upside down right before it goes into his mouth. Work in progress.
13. He will grab the phone and say "hello. how are you?". Wonder where he learned that from:)
14. When Daddy and Nate do their nightly prayers he will say "Amen"
15. We have taught him "Head, shoulders, Knees and toes" song and he when he wants to sing it he comes over and grabs his face and says "head"
16. He is now trying to put on his own socks and shoes. Hopefully next month he can do it on his own
17. When you don't put Mickey on in the DVD player and something else he will go up to it and turn it off and say "ickey"
18. He has a new dance where he puts his hands above his head and spins around. We think he learned this in his music class in MMO but we have no idea what the song is.
19. He will now give kisses over the phone. He will take the phone and go "MMMMMMM". Cutest thing ever!
20. I wanted to give him a kiss goodbye the other day and I got my first rejection of "no no no no"
21. He will bring you the correct puzzle or little people animals when you ask for them...dog, cow, pig, and meow (which he calls a cat)

Made it to 35 weeks with Tater Tot

Wow this week has been very eventful with Tater Tot. It all began around 12 midnight on Tues morning. I started to have contractions. I drank lots of water and just watched the clock. After an hour they were 10 minutes apart. I tried to wake up Mr Hanna but he was sound asleep and it wasn't sinking in what I was trying to tell him. So I got up to go to the bathroom and that is when I got scared. There was blood. So I immediately called Kristin to pack up and get over here to watch Nate. Then called the Dr and we had to go to ATL Northside since I was still 34 weeks. By the time we got to the hospital the contractions were 2 minutes apart. We thought to ourselves "this is it". I was 1 cm and 90% effaced. They gave me 3 shots of terbutaline which did space them out 10 minutes apart. Then I they kept encouraging pain meds to help relax more and it could get rid of them. By this time is was around 6 am and I was exhausted since I haven't gone to bed yet. So I took the pain meds and man that was the best stuff EVER. They went away and I got to sleep for an hour. Then after all the meds wore off they started coming back again. They did an internal again and I was the same. Which is a good thing because if I was progressing then they would do a C Section. So we tried the shot one more time and a pill version. In about an hour they went away. It is now lunch time and I am starving because they wouldn't let me eat because of the possibility of surgery. The Dr came in and let me go home but on bedrest and pills to control the contractions. Got home and stuffed my face. Then I tried to go to sleep. I kept waking up with more contractions. They didn't go away until 10 that night. Nothing serious but annoying. The meds they have me on makes me shake very bad and very hard to sleep due to heart racing. That night it was so hard to sleep. The next day I had another scare with the blood and called the dr office. I went in for an ultrasound too see if there was anything else wrong. Everything turned out perfect. My cervix is now closed. He is weighing at 5 lbs 4 oz. He was even eating when we saw his face and sticking his tongue out. Awesome. They did an internal ultrasound and the tech said 'oh wow his head is right there". I saw the same midwife that was in the emergency room. She said I was the first person she checked when she came in to see when I delivered. She was so excited to see that the baby was still cooking. They said the blood could be from the cervix contracting yesterday. Today is a good day. I slept the whole night through last night and didn't even wake up to take the contraction meds. I can now take a 1/2 pill which makes me feel a little more human. Tomorrow we go back in for my "regular" check up. I will find out then if I am still on bed rest and if I have to take this contraction medication. I am feeling better but feeling lots of pressure. I can tell he has dropped in the past day and sometimes it feels like he is just going to fall out. I can feel his head turning and it is very low. So now it is just a waiting game. We have made it to 35 weeks and now we can definitely have him at Forsyth Hospital. We are excited about that because we are very close to Nate. Now it is the waiting game.
