Potty Training with Wesley

Trucks, Trucks and more Trucks.  That is how you get a very stubborn boy to go potty.  And for the big poop what does he get...a big truck.  I highly do not recommend potty training after 20 weeks pregnant with your child.  The up and down and lifting you can hardly move by the end of the day.  But it only took 2 days for him to get it.  He is a dribbler and that was a new experience I had to figure out.   We started this 2 weeks before school started and he had no trouble.  I think he was the only one in his class that was potty trained when entering the first day of school.  Go Wes!!

Our Garden

This year our family planted our first garden.  We have 2 different type of tomatoes, zucchini, cucumber, peppers, watermelon and herbs.  The garden didn't do as good this year due to all the heat.  We only got 1 zucchini, handful of cucumbers and about 2 dozen tomatoes.  Next year we will do different things.  But the boys LOVED it and would show people our garden who came to visit.

Olympics

Olympics are back and we are so excited. Nate watched swimming with me some nights during the trials and loved it! So he asked me every night for 2 weeks if we could watch the Olympics.  So I decided to make a Olympic countdown for him.  We had so much fun making the poster.

Swim lessons

I enrolled Nate into swim lessons with one of the teachers at St Brendan's.  She has her own pool in her back yard.  I didn't do Wes due to all the ear infections March/April/May.  Nate really loves to swim and it seems to be catching on fast.  The hard part is trying to keep Wes out of the pool.  After the 2nd week I added Wes since his ears were OK.  They both did a great job!  Nate will jump off the diving board.  He can swim on his own but loses confidence in the middle of it.  Wes jumped off the diving board a couple of times but then got scared.  The last 2 swim lessons he just screamed.  On the last day Nate started complaining about his ear.  By that night he had an ear infection.  We had appts already for our yearly checkup at the ENT a few days later.  Come to find out his tube fell out and sitting in his ear.  They called it tubal rejection.  He got an infection from it sitting in his ear.  He still has a hole in his ear and Wes are still there too.  So if we go to any water place they both have to wear plugs.  Ugh.  They fall out all the time and such a pain.  But fun comes first!

Week 20 ultrasound

20 week ultrasound I asked Kristin to come since she has never been to one.  She helped watch the boys while I was sitting on the table.  Everything looked good for Baby Girl Hanna.  Her legs were up by her head all the time. She is still measuring a week ahead and weighs close to 15oz.   I think we may have a gymnast in the family!

June 2009 vs July 2012

Hanna and Hartog boy's got together many times this summer.  They all get along so good together.  This has to be one of my favorite pics of Benjamin and Nate.  Look how much they have grown in 3 years!

Cousin time summer 2012

This year the cousin's got to spend Fourth of July together.  We just  finished the week before with 100 degree weather.  We decided against fireworks because it was just too hot outside.  Glad we did because a huge lighting storm came during firework time.  4th of July morning we went to our annual Steam Engine parade.  We didn't stay the whole time because when you see one train you see them all.  All the cousins had a great time together during that week.  They get along so well and we are so blessed that they do.
