Easter morning

I couldn't tell you how excited I was for the Easter Bunny to get here. Nate would talk about the Easter Bunny hiding eggs. He also wanted a "purple egg". Which meant the chocolate eggs in the purple foil. The Easter Bunny brought Nate a Snoopy theme and gave Wesley some new outside toys. The Easter Bunny did hide eggs but it wasn't as fun finding those as it was at Ma's house. There was one thing that happened that I will never forget. Nate eating his first chocolate Easter bunny. I took off the wrapper and handed it to him. Didn't think much of it because he is not my sweet eater. He then proceeded to eat the bunny out of the box. The poor little bunny's face was all gone. But it was a riot to watch him eat it!

Coloring Eggs with the boys

So I decided to be brave the day of Nate's ear surgery to bring out the eggs that afternoon and try to color them. I was so nervous that the color dye was going to fall on the floor. But I survived and had a great time with Nate. We broke/cracked a few eggs in the process. Later when Daddy got home he helped Nate put stickers on the eggs. Nate was really proud of his art work and kept asking to see the eggs all day. He also said Easter Bunny hide eggs.

Easter at Ma's

The boys came out to Ma's house before one of Kristin's showers that day to do an Easter egg hunt. We started this last year and it is a great tradition. This year we had to have it inside because it was too wet and Wes is not a walker yet. The best part was watching Nate. Ma filled up the eggs with different things like chex mix, animal crackers or m&m's. So Nate would find them and open the eggs up and dump the goodies into the basket and leave the egg to the side. It was the funniest thing to watch. Wesley wasn't into putting eggs in the basket yet but had a great time showing everyone what he found.

Easter Bunny pic

The Easter Bunny pics this year was not planned. We had to go to the mall to buy some gifts for Kristin's showers. So we were passing by and Wesley started pointing and moaning when he saw him. There was nobody in line so I got him to sit next to The Easter Bunny and he loved it. He kept touching him and just looking at him. So then I tried Nate and he wanted nothing to do with it. So I told him if I sat with him would he take the picture. As you can see he was thrilled. They are not even dressed cute and Nate needed a major haircut. Oh well the picture makes me smile and Wesley sees it and he wants to hold it.

Nate ear tube surgery

April 21st we go to Meridian Mark to get Nate his tubes. Mommy was nervous only about how do I tell this child with a 10:30 surgery appt that he can't have his milk? But my prayers worked and it wasn't a big issue at all. The Dr was early so we got back there 30 minutes earlier. Nate loved all the attention that morning. He had no clue what was going to happen. I kept telling him he was going to get his ear's fixed. So I get to take him back to the surgery room and he still had no clue. He thought it was a clue room. I laid him on the operating table and they immediately put the gas mask on. He fought a little but they said it was normal with the meds. I told him before he was completely out that I loved him and he said "I love you mama". Tear. The Dr came back about 10 minutes later and said it went perfectly. He didn't have anymore fluid on his ears which was great. Then we got ready for Nate to come back. We thought he would react the same way as his brother when he woke up. But to our surprise he woke up very gentle and wanted his mama to hold him. He was a little drunk from all the meds. Then he turned pale white and that is when the throwing up started. I have never seen lips get that white before. So at least I had warnings. We finally got down to the car and he got sick before we shut the door. We almost made it all the way home (1/2 mile) and he got sick again. I couldn't pull over and I felt so bad for him. When we got home he just laid on the couch. He didn't want anything to drink or eat. Then I took him up to bed and he slept about 3 hours. He woke up and begged for milk. He drank 3 cups and ate a HUGE dinner. He was back to his normal self. Now we just have to wait for his hearing test end of May. My little buddy was such a trooper. So proud of him!

Nate is getting tubes

I wish I could turn back the clock to get my baby Nate back. No more baby left in this boy!

Update on Nate...we are getting tubes. We have had ear infections after ear infections this year. I had a gut feeling that something was up and decided against going back to the Dr for 2 week ear check that we will go to the ENT instead. So glad I listened to those angels above. His ears were still filled with fluid. No infection but just a lot of fluid. This is why he is crying through the night. I can't remember a morning he doesn't wake up not crying and when you go in there he has his finger in his ears. I know this has to be so painful. We also looked at his anoids since he is an open mouth breather. They turned out they are medium. So we won't be taking those out at this time. The hearing test that was taken was the same as Wes. Nate did not pass. It is so heartbreaking with your son sitting on your lap and he doesn't turn his head when he is suppose too. So tubes on April 21st and after that we will see if his hearing improves and we are also hoping his speech. He has a ton of words but he doesn't have a lot of sentences. Most of the time it takes you several times to understand what he is saying. I noticed since the fluid and the March ear infections he is talking more gibber jabber. If this doesn't improve after the tubes we will have to go to speech therapy.

The words that Nate does have now are so cute to me. Now when he wants me to hold him he will say "Mama great big hug". If something isn't working correctly or wrong he will say "something wrong". He now knows what feeling "cold" means. He will say "cold. Great big hug mama." How could I resist that?

I will update the blog after the tubes and his 3rd Snoopy Birthday party.

14 New things with Wes

My little pumpkin is growing up way too fast.

1. He is standing on his own more and being more brave. I think by Memorial weekend we will have a walker. Getting close!
2. His favorite breakfast is bananas and blueberry pancakes
3. His new sound is sssssss like a snake.
4. When he either burps or farts he cracks up laughing. I think his daddy taught him this one.
5. When he sees something he wants he will point and grunt. If I don't give it to him he melts.
6. He can climb up the stairs so fast. He gets so excited he screams all the way up.
7. He uses anything and everything to help him climb on something.
8. He loves to hold any kind of ball. I think we have a sports man on our hands.
9. Still hates for his diaper to get changed. He has better things to do.
10. Bath time is the best time ever. He is all over the place and loves to stick his face in the water.
11. He is officially off the bottle. He is 100% sippy cup. He only likes to drink out of the straws.
12. I can now push him to skip his morning nap if we have to go somewhere. Mommy really likes this.
13. He loves to sit and look through books. He will even sit on your lap the whole time for you to read them to him.
14. He is now in a size 5 diaper.
